This nomen has been studied by Wagner and Crochet (2009) who designated a lectotype, placing it in the synonymy of Stenodactylus sthenodactylus ( Lichtenstein, 1823) .
Name-bearing type: the specimen illustrated in Figure 3 of Plate 1 of “ Reptiles - Supplément” of the “Illustrations de Description de l’Égypte” (Anonymous 1809–1827), lectotype by designation of Wagner and Crochet (2009). This specimen is apparently lost. Type locality: not precisely stated, almost certainly Egypt.
Proposed status: subjective junior synonym of Stenodactylus sthenodactylus ( Lichtenstein, 1823) .
