Pabstiella rhombilabia Chiron & N.Sanson (2011: 134) ( Figure 11B )

Type:— BRAZIL. Espírito Santo: Domingos Martins, II.1991 [fl.], A.L.V. Toscano de Brito 926 (holotype: HUEFS!).

Taxonomic note:— Pabstiella rhombilabia and P. osculator were published with a six-month difference in the same year. The specimens used to prepare the types for both publications were collected in the same area in Espírito Santo. When comparing these publications, it becomes evident that they refer to the same species. The original drawing of P. rhombilabia portrays a plant with a sub-reptant habit, where the ramicauls are distinctly separated from each other. However, this characteristic is not clearly apparent when observing the holotype at MBML. The petals and lip were also poorly detailed in the original drawing. In contrast, the original illustration of Pabstiella osculator shows a unique leaf without detail of the rhizome, but it includes details of petals and lip. The diagnosis provided by C. Luer for P. osculator focuses on the petals with callous-thickened and minutely verrucose apex, a diagnostic character that better defines this species.
