Saticula coriaria Stål, 1866 View in CoL

Saticula coriaria View in CoL is a northern African species ( Boulard, 1981), which has been listed for Switzerland tentatively but erroneously by Fieber (1876) and later by Nast (1972). The confusion started with “ Cicada violacea View in CoL ,die Blaue” reported from Geneva by Fuesslin (1775) and referring to Cicada violacea Linné, 1758 View in CoL which is actually not a European species. Boulard (1981) demonstrated in detail that several authors concluded erroneously the two taxa mentioned to be in synonymy.Weare unable to speculate to which species Fuesslin was referring to.
