Taxonomy. Akodon reigi Gonzalez, Langguth & L. F. Oliveira, 1998 View in CoL , “Paso Averias, Departamento de Lavalleja, Uruguay (Lat. 33°60’S; Long . 54°40°W).” GoogleMaps This species is monotypic.
Distribution. Extreme S Brazil (S Rio Grande do Sul State) and N & E Uruguay. View Figure
Descriptive notes. Head-body 92-123 mm, tail 88-97 mm, ear 16-19 mm, hindfoot 23-28 mm; weight 20-61 g. Reig’s Grass Mouse is a moderately large species of Akodon . Dorsum is gray olivaceous; tail is bicolored; and forefeet and hindfeet are covered with grayish hair.
Habitat. Subtropical gallery forests with dense litter, interface of forested habitats and grasslands, and swamp forests.
Food and Feeding. No information.
Breeding. Breeding of Reig’s Grass Mouse probably occurs from spring to autumn.
Activity patterns. Reig’s Grass Mouse is nocturnal.
