Taxonomy. Akodon philipmyersi Pardinas et al., 2005 View in CoL , Estancia Santa Inés, Misiones, Argentina.
This species is monotypic.
Distribution. Known fron only two localities in S Misiones Province, NE Argentina . View Figure
Descriptive notes. Head-body 92 mm, tail 60 mm, ear 12 mm, hindfoot 18 mm; weight 19 g. Philip Myers’s Grass Mouse is a small, short-tailed species of Akodon . Dorsum is covered by soft and moderately long hair. Pelage is obscure gray at it base and agouti at its distal end; venter is gray cream; and dorsum and venter are not markedly distinct. Ears are covered by delicate and short hair. Forefeet and hindfeet are covered dorsally by short whitish hair. Manus claws are short. Mystacial vibrissae are short. Tail is entirely covered by short and delicate hair, dark above and cream to whitish below. Chromosomal complement is 2n = 36, FN = 42.
Habitat. Natural or modified forest-edge grasslands in the Atlantic Forest ecoregion.
Food and Feeding. No information.
Breeding. Philip Myers’s Grass Mice are reproductively active during summer and at least until the middle of autumn (January-May). Females carry three or more embryos.
Activity patterns. Philip Myers’s Grass Mouse is terrestrial and nocturnal.
Movements, Home range and Social organization. No information.
Status and Conservation. Classified as Data Deficient on The IUCN Red Lust.
