Type species. Shaddai typicus Distant, 1918

The leafhopper genus Shaddai was established by Distant in 1918 from India with Shaddai typicus Distant, 1918 as its type species. Later, Dworakowska (1977) transferred Sinalebra hummeli Distant, 1936 , recorded from China, to Shaddai ; Ma (1981) reported Shaddai shaanxiensis Ma, 1981 and Shaddai xianensis Ma, 1981 from China. So far, there are 4 species of Shaddai , all of which have been recorded from China.

Distribution. Palearctic and Oriental Regions.

Note. This genus can be distinguished from Alebra Fieber, 1872 by the hind wing submarginal vein not confluent with vein RP and 1st apical cell partially open.
