Material examined. 1 male, 2.1 mm, dissected in part (A1–2; G1–2), 1 slide, SEM pin mount whole animal, AM P.97897; 1 female, 3.6 mm, dissected, 3 slides, AM P.97899; female 1 SEM pin mount, AM P.97898; paratypes 20 specimens (6 male and 14 female), AM P.97900, Sungai Brunei Estuary, Brunei River, Brunei, South China Sea (48°45′– 58°02′N 114°858′–115°810′E), 0.5–1.5 m, from intertidal hard substratum, attached to green algal mat, June 2012, coll. M. Belal Hossain.
Type locality. Annaba, Algeria.
Remarks. Apocorophium acutum is reported from a wide range of localities. The synonymy here comprehensively includes all taxonomic citations of the species. Illustrations by Bousfield & Hoover, 1997 in their review do not have the distal projection on antennae 2 which is present in all other illustrated reports of Apocorophium acutum .

Pakistan ( Bano & Kazmi 2012), Northeast Pacific ( Crawford 1937, Bousfield & Hoover 1997). Northwest Atlantic ( Shoemaker 1934). Southwest Atlantic ( Shoemaker 1934).
