TYPE LOCALITY: "La Ventura, Coahuila, Mexico."

DISTRIBUTION: Coahuila, and San Luis Potosi; perhaps Nuevo Leon, and Zacatecas (NC Mexico).

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN - Endangered.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Cynomys ( Hall, 1981:412) ; reviewed by Ceballos-G. and Wilson (1985, Mammalian Species, 248) and Trevino-V. (1991).
