Published records. México: Chiapas, Coahuila, Oaxaca, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Veracruz; United States: Texas ( La Rivers 1957; Polhemus & Polhemus 1988; Sites & Willig 1991; Sites & Nichols 1993, 2001; Davis 1996; Reynoso-Velasco & Sites 2019b).

New state records. México: Hidalgo, Puebla .

Distribution. Rodrigues & Sites (2019) reported that this species is distributed from Texas in the southwestern United States south to Querétaro in central Mexico. The authors suggested that the previous report by Sites & Nich- ols (2001), citing Polhemus (1991), of the occurrence of this species in the southern state of Chiapas is most likely based on misidentified specimens belonging to the superficially similar L. insularis . Davis (1996) also reported this species from southern Mexico (Oaxaca, Veracruz). Based on my extensive collecting throughout the country and some published records, this species is distributed in Mexico only in the northeast, north of the Transmexican Volcanic Belt. Similar to Rodrigues & Sites (2019), I consider that the records reported by Davis (1996) from Oaxaca and Veracruz could be based on misidentified specimens belonging to L. insularis , which occurs in this southern area of the country. Limnocoris lutzi is distributed in Mexico along the northeast ( Fig. 4 ), including the northern part of the Veracruzan (Hidalgo, Puebla, San Luis Potosí), the central part of the Sierra Madre Oriental (Querétaro, San Luis Potosí), and the northern section of the Chihuahuan Desert (Coahuila) biogeographic provinces. Although there is only one report of this species from the central part of Tamaulipas ( Rodrigues & Sites 2019), L. lutzi is likely more widely distributed in the northern part of Tamaulipas, as well as in Nuevo León, in the Tamaulipas biogeographic province. This area would serve as the bridge connecting the populations of the species in the southwestern United States and eastern Mexico.
