Epistylis tubificis D’Udekem, 1864 View in CoL
Report as epibiont on oligochaetes: This species was reported as the epibiont on the oligochaete species Tubifex tubifex (= Tubifex rivulorum ) from Belgium ( D’Udekem 1864; Kahl 1935; Porto et al. 2024). This was one of the widely distributed peritrich species observed as epibionts on oligochaetes genera Nais , Stylaria , Tubifex , Potamothrix , Limnodrilus , and unidentified Oligochaeta in Ukraine ( Boshko 2009).
Remarks: Zaleski & Claps (2001) found attached to macrophytes and filamentous chlorophytes in summer. They also commented that E. tubifecis was found attached to different substrates when this species is considered an epizoic.
