Report as epibiont on oligochaetes: This species was reported as an epibiont on the oligochaetes Nais sp. and Tubifex velutinus ( Bourquin-Lindt 1919; Monard 1918; Keiser 1921).
Remarks: Epistylis plicatilis is a ubiquitous freshwater species, reported from a wide variety of aquatic substrates, including aquatic plants, algae, crustaceans, insects and insect larvae, snails, and inanimate objects ( Chatterjee et al. 2021b).
