Epistylis umbilicata Claparède & Lachmann, 1858

Report as epibiont on oligochaetes: This was reported as the epibiont on the oligochaete species Nais sp. and Tubifex sp. (Bourquin-Lindt 1918; Keiser 1921; Schödel 2018). Parona (1883) reported it on Nais elinguis . Keiser (1921) noted that Fehlmann, in 1911, recorded this species on Tubifex tubifex .

Remarks: This species was originally reported as an epibiont on the larvae of the insect genus Stechmucken ( Claparède & Lachmann 1858; Porto et al. 2024). E. umbilicata was also found on cyclopoid copepods ( Keiser 1921; Clamp et al. 2016).
