Key characters of male imago. Total length 3.54–4.10, 3.91 mm, wing length 1.94–2.08, 2.03 mm. AR 1.80– 1.95, 1.87. Temporal setae 6–12, 9; clypeus with 25–32, 28 setae. Wing with ten markings, 3 in cell r4+5, 1 in cell m, 2 in cell m1+2, 1 in cell m3+4, 2 in cell Cu1, 1 in cell an; R with 20–31, 24 setae; R1 with 17–27, 22; R4+5 with 22–29, 25; squama with 10–14, 12 setae. Distribution. It is known from Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Oriental China.

Remarks. The species is very close to P. (T.) tobanona Kikuchi & Sasa, 1990 from Indonesia. According to Kikuchi & Sasa (1990: fig15a), wing has 7 markings in P. (T.) tobanona . P. (T.) decematoguttatum has 10 wing markings, however, the wing markings of P. (T.) decematoguttatum are obscure near margin. According to the photograph of holotype of P. (T.) tobanona Kikuchi & Sasa provided by National Museum of Nature and Sciences of Japan (http://www. type.kahaku.go.jp/TypeDB/diptera/283), wing has 10 markings in P. (T.) tobanona . Except for the above two difference, there is no other difference between the two species, so we treat P. (T.) tobanona Kikuchi & Sasa as a new synonym of P. (T.) decematoguttatum Tokunaga.

In the subgenus Tripodura , there are other six species, P. (T.) bicrenatum Kieffer , P. (T.) digitifer Townes , P. (T.) halterale (Coquillet) , P. (T.) simulans Townes , P. (T.) sidoniensis Moubayed and P. (T.) tetracrenatum Hirvenoja having characteristic anal point with a pair of small lobes to each side.
