Remarks. Macrobiotus persimilis is largely Palaearctic ( McInnes 1994) with reports from a few disjunct sites. The persimilis sub-group of the hufelandi group requires careful taxonomic identification. These reports are close to the Sicilian type locale, though this example requires further analysis.
