10. Cothornobata atra sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Postocellar seta absent. Palpus dark brown. Fore tibia black. Arms of genital fork convergent on distal 1/2, widest point across arms only slightly wider than 1.5X width of base at midpoint; basal tubercles finger-like, contiguous. Distiphallus inflated apically, glans present.

Description. Male. Body length 11.0 mm, wing length 8.0 mm.

Head mostly subshiny blackish-brown with very thin gray pollinosity. Frontal vitta brown with apex yellow, densely microsetulose, about 2/3 width of frons; lower orbital plate dull pollinose; ocellar triangle black; median occipital sclerite with a small dark yellow spot at middle; lunule yellow; face pale yellow, densely microsetulose; gena dark yellow, lightly pollinose; clypeus uniformly blackish, shiny. Setae and setulae on head black; postocellar seta absent ( Fig. 13 I); postgena with 1 strong seta at lower margin. Antenna brownish-yellow; first flagellomere 1.6X as long as broad; pedicel with 1 ventral apical seta nearly half length of first flagellomere; arista nearly 3.6X length of first flagellomere, brown, and long pubescent with distal half bare. Proboscis brownish-yellow with brown apex, setulae brown. Palpus dark brown, setulae black.

Thorax black, with pale gray pollinosity. Scutellum slightly convex, angled dorsally. Setae on thorax black, setulae blackish; katepisternum with 4 strong setae.

Legs mostly yellow, [mid leg broken]; coxae brown; apical 2/5 of fore femur and apical 3/20 of hind femur black; fore tibia black, hind tibia dark yellow to brown, darker at base and apex; fore and hind tarsus brown.

Wing brown with distal and discal bands dark brown; distal band basal to middle of distal section of M1; discal band along M1 but posterior to R4+5, basal to middle of penultimate section of M1. Bm-cu in line with CuA2, A1+CuA2 2.2X as long as CuA2; distance between apex of R2+3 and R4+5 0.6X as long as M1 beyond dm-cu ( Fig. 13 C). Halter pale yellow with brown base.

Abdomen mostly blackish with pale gray pollinosity, tergites 2–5 pale yellow with pale gray pollinosity apically. Pleuron dark gray. Epandrium dark brown. Genital fork dark brown, with blackish-brown to black setulae; arms strongly divergent basally and convergent on distal 1/2, widest point across arms only slightly wider than 1.5X width of base at midpoint; basal tubercles finger-like, contiguous; medial tubercle strong, broadly convex Abbreviations: i vt s, inner vertical seta; o vt s, outer vertical seta.

( Fig. 13 D). Distiphallus inflated apically, glans present. Pregonite long and expanded apically. Postgonite narrow and directed posteriorly ( Fig. 13 GH).

Female. Unknown.

Type material. HOLOTYPE: CHINA, Guangxi Province: Nanning, Daming Mountain, 29.v.2011, Tingting Zhang (♂, CAU).

Distribution. Oriental: China (Guangxi).

Remarks. Cothornobata atra is similar to C. elegantula sp. nov., but differs as follows: postocellar seta absent; bm-cu in line with CuA2; postgonite, aedeagus, and associated structures narrow and directed posteriorly.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the black thoracic colour.
