2. Cothornobata fusca sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Mostly brownish-yellow. Arista bare. Wing discal band rather small, reached to middle of penultimate section of M1, basal to dm-cu. Arm of genital fork bowed at base and subparallel on distal 2/3, basal tubercle broadly convex. Postgonite long and strongly bent, creating a “V-shape”.

Description. Male. Body length 10.5 mm, wing length 7.5 mm.

Head mostly subshiny brownish-yellow with very thin gray pollinosity. Frontal vitta yellow, densely microsetulose, about 1/2 width of frons; lower orbital plate dull pollinose; ocellar triangle brown; lunule orange; face yellow, with fine microsetulae; gena light brown, lightly pollinose; clypeus uniformly brown, shiny. Setae and setulae on head black; postgena with 1 strong seta at lower margin. Antenna pale yellow; first flagellomere 1.3X longer than wide; pedicel with 1 ventral apical seta more than half length of first flagellomere; arista nearly 2.5X length of first flagellomere, brown and bare. Proboscis brownish-yellow with brown apex, setulae brown to black. Palpus yellow, setulae black.

Thorax brownish-yellow with pale gray pollinosity. Scutellum slightly convex, angled dorsally. Setae on thorax black, setulae blackish; katepisternum with 3 strong setae.

Fore and mid legs missing from unique type. Hind leg mostly yellow, except femur brown on apical 1/5, tibia with brown basal ring and darkened on apical half, tarsus brown.

Wing light brown, distal band dark brown, reached to middle of distal section of M1 but strongly paled posterior to M1 and with minor pale strip between R2+3 and R4+5; discal band much light than distal band, covered M1 but posterior to R4+5, reached to middle of penultimate section of M1, basal to dm-cu. Bm-cu in line with CuA2, A1+CuA2 3.4X as long as CuA2; distance between apex of R2+3 and R4+5 0.3X as long as M1 beyond dm-cu ( Fig. 3 C). Halter pale yellow but dark yellow at base.

Abdomen mostly brownish-yellow with pale gray pollinosity, tergites 2 and 3 yellow with dense pale gray pollinosity apically. Pleuron pale gray. Epandrium brownish-yellow. Genital fork pale yellow to brownish-yellow; arm long, bowed at base and subparallel on distal 2/3; basal tubercle broadly convex, medial tubercle indistinctly convexly differentiated ( Fig. 3 D). Distiphallus slightly shorter than phallapodeme, terminating in curved filaments, not inflated apically. Pregonite expanded. Postgonite long and strongly bent, creating a “V-shape” (viewed ventrally) ( Fig. 3 GH).

Female. Unknown.

Type material. HOLOTYPE: CHINA, Hainan Province: Ledong, Jianfengling, 5–7.vi.2007, Erqiong Wen (♂, CAU).

Distribution. Oriental: China (Hainan).

Remarks. Cothornobata fusca is similar to C. breviseta sp. nov. and C. fusca sp. nov., but differs as follows: arista bare; wing discal band small and reaching middle of penultimate section of M1, basal to dm-cu; arm of genital fork bowed at base and subparallel on distal 2/3, basal tubercle broadly convex; postgonite long and strongly bent, creating a “V-shape”.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the brownish-yellow body colour.
