GRYPHAEIDAE View in CoL Hyotissa numisma (Lamarck, 1819)
Habitat. Cemented to the undersides of rocks and dead coral rubble, generally in the littoral and shallow subtidal of the lagoon.
Distribution. Passe Grand Bassin.
Remarks. This flat, white oyster is completely cemented to the substrate and can be difficult to recognize. It seems to be genuinely uncommon at Rodrigues but externally can be confused with A. crenulifera and Plicatula and may therefore be more common.
Figured specimen. 37.6 mm, NMW.Z.1999.073.00018.
