Bioramix (Cardiobioramix) prolongata sp. nov.

( Figs 4 View FIGURES 3–4 , 47–48 View FIGURES 25–48 , 213 View FIGURES 208–213 )

Description. Body black, weakly shining, antennae, palpi and tarsi brown.

Male ( Figs 4 View FIGURES 3–4 , 47–48 View FIGURES 25–48 , 213 View FIGURES 208–213 ). Head. Anterior margin of epistome straight, surface with moderately dense and coarse punctures. Frons and genae weakly convex, surface with dense and coarse punctures. Dorsal surface of head with moderately dense and coarse punctures. Eyes transverse, anterior margin shallowly emarginate.Antennae ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : A) reaching beyond pronotal base, antennomeres II–VIII long cylindrical and thicker at apex, XI sharped-oval. Length (width) ratio of antennomeres II–XI 34 (24): 97 (23): 58 (23): 54 (23): 54 (20): 56 (21): 60 (21): 48 (25): 43 (27): 52 (30).

Prothorax. Pronotum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : B) transverse, disc strongly convex, 1.3 times as wide as long, 1.7 times as wide as head. Lateral sides widest at middle, arcuately narrowing toward base and apex. Ratio of width at anterior margin to widest part and base 29: 44: 42. Anterior margin deeply emarginate, posterior one weakly protruding backward. Anterior angles rectangular, sharped apically, posterior angles nearly rectangular. Anterior and posterior margins edged laterally, entire lateral margins edged. Dorsal surface with tiny setae, coarse and dense punctures. Prothoracic hypomera with longitudinal wrinkles and sparse yellow setae. Prosternum anterior to procoxae with yellow setae, apex of prosternal process long cylindrical projecting beyond level of procoxae in lateral view.

Pterothorax. Elytra elongate-oval and convex, 1.3 times as long as wide and 1.4 times as wide as pronotum, base wider than pronotum and widest at middle. Surface with sparse and fine punctures, rows of sparse and large punctures, fine wrinkles and tiny setae. Lateral margins of elytra merging with outer margins of epipleura anterior to apex of elytra and reaching sutural angle, visible at base in dorsal view.

Abdomen with sparse yellow setae, ventrites 1–2 depressed at middle.

Legs. Profemora stout, with sparse punctures and yellow setae. Protibiae ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : D) gradually widened toward apex, underside not concave at apex, inner side with dense yellow hairbrush from middle to apex. Protarsi ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : C) as wide as apex of protibiae. Meso- and metafemora longer than profemora. Mesotibiae ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : E) gradually widened toward apex, with yellow setae and rufous thick setae. Mesotarsi ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : F) narrower than apex of mesotibiae. Metatibiae ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : G) curved, with rufous stout setae. Length (width) ratio of pro-, meso- and metafemora 32 (11): 40 (9): 48 (10), that of corresponding tibiae 28 (7): 32 (6): 42 (6), and protarsi 31 (39): 61 (75): 48 (64): 27 (49): 76 (28), mesotarsi 37 (40): 56 (55): 47 (50): 33 (39): 75 (28), metatarsi ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : H) 133 (35): 74 (34): 52 (31): 67 (25).

Aedeagus ( Figs 4 View FIGURES 3–4 : I–J, 47–48) 4.3 mm long and 0.9 mm wide. Parameres 1.4 mm long and 0.6 mm wide, widest at base and weakly wider than apex, distal part weakly curved dorsally in lateral view.

Measurements. Body length: ♂ 12.3–12.6 mm and width: ♂ 5.9–6.0 mm.

Type material. Holotype: ♂ ( MHBU), CHINA : Sichuan: Badi Township , Danba County, 2230 m, 18.VII.2008, Guo-Dong Ren et al. leg . Paratypes: 1♂ ( MHBU), same data as holotype ; 1♂ ( MHBU), Yakegou, Bianer Township , Danba County, 5.VIII.2009, Zhen-Hua Gao & Yi-Ping Niu leg.

Distribution. China: Sichuan.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to Bioramix (Cardiobioramix) tenuitarsus sp. nov., but can be distinguished from the latter by the following characters (based on male): (1) lateral sides of pronotum not flattened at middle, posterior angles nearly rectangular (widely flattened, obtuse in B. tenuitarsus ); (2) apex of prosternal process long cylindrical projecting beyond level of procoxae in lateral view (short and sharp in B. tenuitarsus ); (3) abdominal ventrites 1–2 depressed at middle (neither flattened nor depressed in B. tenuitarsus ); (4) protarsi as wide as apex of protibiae (narrow than in B. tenuitarsus ); (5) parameres narrow and long, base slightly wider than apex, distal part weakly curved dorsally in lateral view (wide and short, strongly, straight in B. tenuitarsus ).

Etymology. This species name is derived from its long, cylindrical apex of the prosternal process.
