T y p e s p e c i e s. Paramblypterus decorus ( EGERTON,

1850).

D i a g n o s i s. After Dietze (1999) and Štamberg (2013b). Nasal bones split secondarily. Dermohyal not present as a single ossification. More than two suborbitals. Seven to nine branchiostegal rays. No gap between the opercular series and skull roofing bones. Duplication of the extrascapular series (postparietals) is present. Scales weakly serrated, with little ornamentation.
