Limnophora fenellae Peris, 1963: 107 View in CoL .
Holotype male in CSIC (not seen).
Diagnosis. Postsutural intraalars 2; fore tibia without submedian seta; mid femur with 2 preapical setae, posterior and posterodorsal; mid tibia with one posterior seta; katepisternals almost equidistant from each other; costal spine indistinct, spinules short; hind femur with only 1 strong preapical anteroventral seta. Male sternite 5 and cercal plate as in Peris (1963, Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ).
Notes. This runs to couplet 72 in Emden’s (1951) key and differs from L. longiseta Emden and L. aculeipes by the single anteroventral seta on hind femur, anterior postsutural intraalar indistinct, among other characters. Peris (1963) incorporates L. fenellae into Emden’s key as follows:
72(65) Costal spine indistinct, spinules short.
a(b) Hind femur with only 1 strong preapical anteroventral seta. Anterior postsutural intraalar indistinct, only the 2 posterior ones distinct. Scutum in posterior view dark brown pruinose, without pale longitudinal stripes except in the males which are broadly grey in front of scutellum and between the line of the dorsocentrals except on a median line. Postpronotal lobe and notopleuron also light grey. Length of aristal hairs equal to its basal diameter. Fore tibia without submedian setae. Hind tibia with 1 anterodorsal and 1 anteroventral, equal to tibial depth. Calypters yellowish-white............................. fenellae Peris
b(a) Hind femur on anteroventral surface, in addition to the seta in apical half, with a strong seta proximad of this half and with some erect setae (male) or hair-like setae (female) between base of femur and the submedian seta, the hair-like setae of the female longer and more erect than the normal setulae; the preapical anteroventral not, or only just, longer than the submedian seta, some or all of the intermediate setae weaker. Scutum with more or less distinct longitudinal vittae......................................................................................... longiseta Emden and aculeipes Stein
