Ecology: found as pioneer species in Casuarina forest, Podocarpus-Eugenia forest, montane forests, thickets, grassy areas, along ravines, on riverbanks; in sand, loam, marl; elevation: 350–2,400 m ( Esser 1997).
Distribution: E Java, Lesser Sunda Islands ( Esser 1997).
Specimens examined: Timor Leste: Viqueque, [Mundo Perdido, Mont, 8°43’16” S, 126°19’56” E], 23 December 1953, van Steenis, C. G. G. J. 18287 (BM [BM000050044], L [L.2240350]).
