Gonatopus capicola Kieffer 1913c: 324 ; Olmi 1984: 1802.
Description (according to Kieffer 1913c). ♀. Apterous; length 3.5 mm. Colour black, except mandible red (except black teeth); clypeus, margins of mouth, narrow stripe along anterior half of orbits, antennomere 1, tarsi and slender part of tibiae white; petiole and lateral regions of pronotum brown-red.
♂. Unknown.
Type material (not examined). ♀ holotype (only known specimen) originally in SAMC. Labelled “South Af- rica, Cape Town”. This specimen was sent for identification to Kieffer by Louis Albert Péringuey , former director of the South African Museum. Presently , it is not deposited in the collections of that museum. It was not found in any of the main world museums (including the Natural History Museum in London , England, and the Natural History Museum of Paris , France, where the Kieffer collection was housed). Probably this specimen has to be considered lost .
Hosts. Unknown.
Distribution. South Africa.
Remarks. The original description is not sufficient to permit the identification of this species, or to include it in the key to the ♀♀ of the Afrotropical Gonatopus . Therefore we include it among the incertae sedis species.
