1. Capillipedium filiculme (Hook. f.) Stapf (1922: 4) View in CoL . ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 )
Basionym:— Andropogon filiculmis J. D. Hooker (1896: 181) View in CoL .
Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA. Maharashtra: Pune district, V. V. Jacquemont 310 [ K001057410 (digital image!)].
Distribution:— INDIA: Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (endemic to the country; Singh et al. 2015).
Notes:—When Hook. f. (1896) described Andropogon filiculmis , he cited two gatherings in the protologue [The Deccan, Poonah, in rocky places, Jacquemont (n. 310); Mawar, Dhomsha, Woodrow (Herb. Bomb. n. 26.)], but no specific herbarium sheet was designated as the holotype. According to Stafleu & Cowan (1976), Hooker’s “Indian herbarium and mss” are mainly housed at K and CAL. Attempts were made to locate the type specimens at K, as well as at CAL. In CAL we didn’t find any specimens. In K we found three sheets representing the two gatherings, two collected by Woodrow collections [Pune district, Dhoodsee, 8 December 1894, G.M. Woodrow 26 (K001057411!); 8 December 1894, G.M. Woodrow s.n. (K001057409!)] and one Jacquemont [K barcode K001057410!] were traced at K, which should be considered as original material. According to Art. 9.6 ICN, all the representatives of the type collections are syntypes, because a single specimen was not designated by Hooker (1896) as the type. The best one and better preserved sheet, K001057410 is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also having drawings of floral dissection on the sheet by Hook. f.
