REMARKS
The name is based on a diagnosis in Rumphius(1747: 130) Herbarium Amboinense 5 “Pissang Tando”. The herbarium and types of Rumphius were almost completely destroyed in a fire ( Stafleu & Cowan 1983), and since the name is not supported by an illustration and we were not able to interpret the diagnosis, the name remains dubious. The combination by Kurz is illegitimate, since M. simiarum Rumph. is a pre-Linnaean name.
