Type locality. Rio Itapemirim , state of Espírito Santo, Brazil .

Distribution. Endemic to Brazil ( Plt. 279A View Plate 279 ). Restricted to coastal Atlantic Forest ( Plt. 279A View Plate 279 ) at low elevations ( Plt. 279B View Plate 279 ). Observed in the field in preserved or disturbed water bodies, including urban areas ( Dixon and Soini, 1977; Hartmann et al., 2009; Pontes et al., 2009).
