Type locality. “America.”

Distribution. Known from Bolívia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad, and Venezuela ( Plt. 338A View Plate 338 ). In Brazil, widespread in Amazonia ( Plt. 338A View Plate 338 ) at low elevations ( Plt. 338B View Plate 338 ). Observed in the field in forest ( Cunha and Nascimento, 1993; Martins and Oliveira, 1998).
