Type locality. São Bento do Sul , state of Santa Catarina, Brazil .

Distribution. Endemic to Brazil ( Plt. 350A View Plate 350 ). Widespread in Araucaria Forest, with marginal records in the Atlantic Forest and Pampas Grasslands ( Plt. 350A View Plate 350 ), mostly at high elevations ( Plt. 350B View Plate 350 ). Observed in the field in aquatic habitats in open areas ( Scartozzoni and Marques, 2004).
