Echinanthera melanostigma View in CoL (Wagler in Spix, 1824)

Type locality. State of Bahia, Brazil .

Distribution. Endemic to Brazil ( Plt. 216A View Plate 216 ). Recorded in the central portion of the Atlantic Forest ( Plt. 216A View Plate 216 ), mostly from intermediate to high elevations ( Plt. 216B View Plate 216 ). Observed in the field in forest ( Marques et al., 2001; Hartmann et al., 2009; Martins et al., 2008b; Bérnils, 2009).
