Type locality. “Parahyba” (= vicinity of Rio Paraíba do Sul, Campos dos Goytacazes; see Vanzolini and Myers, 2015), state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil .

Distribution. Endemic to Brazil ( Plt. 217A View Plate 217 ). Widespread in the southern part of the southern Atlantic Forest, with marginal records in Cerrado and Araucaria Forest ( Plt. 217A View Plate 217 ), from low to high elevations ( Plt. 217B View Plate 217 ). Observed in the field in primary and secondary forest ( Hartmann et al., 2009; Barbo et al., 2011).
