Type locality. Near Quito (in error), Ecuador .

Distribution. Known from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, and Peru, mostly in Amazonian forest ( Plt. 221A View Plate 221 ). In Brazil, widespread in Amazonia ( Plt. 221A View Plate 221 ) at low elevations ( Plt. 221B View Plate 221 ). Observed in the field in forest and disturbed areas ( Martins and Oliveira, 1998; Morais et al., 2010).
