Type locality. “America.”

Distribution. Known from Bolívia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela, mostly along forested regions ( Plt. 42A View Plate 42 ). In Brazil, it is widespread in Amazonia and Atlantic Forest, also occurring in the Caatinga, Pantanal, and the northern portion of the Cerrado ( Plt. 42A View Plate 42 ), mostly at low elevations ( Plt. 42B View Plate 42 ). Observed in the field in forest, gallery forest, hillside forest, upland forest and dry forest ( Martins and Oliveira, 1998; Marques et al., 2001; Dal Vechio et al., 2013; Guedes et al., 2014).
