Type locality. “Asia” (in error). Restricted to Suriname by Schmidt and Walker (1943) .

Distribution. Known from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela in Amazonia ( Plt. 54A View Plate 54 ). In Brazil, widespread in Amazonia ( Plt. 54A View Plate 54 ), mostly at low elevations ( Plt. 54B View Plate 54 ). Previous maps and taxonomy in Campbell and Lamar (2004). Observed in the field in primary forest and disturbed areas ( Campbell and Lamar, 2004; Martins and Oliveira, 1998; Bernarde and Abe, 2006).
