Coxigenital annuli 7. Leg— Segments normal. Leg І 44 (43–46), femur 16 (16–17), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 12 (10–14); genu 7 (6–7), antaxial genual setae (l'') 34 (30–40); tibia 7 (7–8), paraxial tibial setae (l ʹ) 13 (11–14); tarsus 12 (11–12); tarsal empodium simple, 11 (10–11), 6-rayed; tarsal solenidion knobbed, 13 (13–14). Leg І 40 (39–41), femur 16 (15–16), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 14 (13–17); genu 5 (4–5), antaxial genual setae (l'') 13 (11–16); tibia 6 (6–7), tarsus 11 (10–12); tarsal empodium simple, 10 (10–11), 6-rayed; tarsal solenidion knobbed, 14 (13–14). Opisthosoma— Dorsal annuli 66, with filamentous microtubercles; ventral annuli 95, with round microtubercles. Setae c2 12 (11–14), on ventral annulus 19; setae d 80 (73–88), on ventral annulus 33; setae e 66 (58–74), on ventral annulus 54; setae f 35 (31–38), on 9th ventral annulus from rear. Setae h1 absent. Female genitalia— 22 (21–23), 30 (29–31) wide, coverflap smooth; proximal setae on coxisternum ІІІ (3a) 10 (9–11).

Male. Not seen.

Type data. Holotype, female, Jianshi National Forest Park, Tian’er County (25°01'N, 107°16'E), Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, 18-Aug.-2006, from Debregeasia elliptica C. J. Chen (Urticaceae) , collected by Suigai Wei, Guoquan Wang, Aizhi Qin and Yongjun Meng. Paratypes, 9 females, were mounted on 9 slides, with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host. The mites are vagrant on the undersurfaces of the leaves, no visible damage seen.

Etymology. The specific designation is derived from the generic name of the type host plant.

Note. This new species is similar to Rhyncaphytoptus platani Keifer, 1939 , but can be differentiated by the 6-rayed tarsal empodium, dorsal annuli with filamentous microtubercles, and seta h1 absent. The species is also close to Rhyncaphytoptus papyriferae Xue & Hong 2005 , but differs by its smooth coxal area and genital coverflap, 6-rayed tarsal empodium, and dorsal annuli with filamentous microtubercles.
