Centaureae regiae var. cynarocephalae affinis , a qua spinis terminalibus appendicum mediorum (17–) 20–25 mm (nec (3–)4–8(–13) mm) longis differt.
Type:— IRAN. Prov. Kermanshah: Ravansar to Kamyaran , 1–3 after Ravansar , 1375–1400 m, 30 May 2014, Negaresh & Kamalnejad 112 (holotype herb. Negaresh!, isotypes FUMH!, herb. Negaresh.!, RUH!) .
Terminal spine of median appenadges (17–) 20–25 mm long; appendages brown; cilia 3–10 mm long.
Etymology: —The specific epithet longispinosa means ‘terminal spine long’.
Taxonomic and distribution remarks: — Centaurea regia var. longispinosa is a rare endemic of Kermanshah Province, W Iran ( Fig. 60 View FIGURE 60 ). It is distinguished from the other varieties by a longer spine (17–) 20–25 mm and also somewhat longer cilia (3–10 mm).
