23. Theognete carinata Anderson , new species ( Figures 96 , 106 , 115 )

Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 4.24–4.86mm; female, 4.27–5.42mm. Width, male, 2.19–2.53mm; female, 2.08–2.81mm. As for T. bothynometopon but area above eyes not excavated, area constricted such that head is constricted behind eyes in lateral view. Pronotum with carina developed, usually sharp, from subapical constriction to near base. Elytra with scales on tubercles shorter, more appressed, not at all suberect or erect. Front coxae separated by much less than width of a coxa. Aedeagus as in Fig. 106 .

Geographical distribution. México (Guerrero).

Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of alder forest, wet oak forest and oak-pine-fir forest leaf litter at elevations ranging from 2300–2775m.

Derivation of specific name. Named from the Latin carina, meaning keel, in reference to the median carina of the pronotum.

Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. semistriata .
