34. Theognete illuviosa Anderson , new species ( Figures 165 , 200 , 233 )

Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 3.63–4.11mm; female, 3.55–4.15mm. Width, male, 2.21–2.47mm; female, 2.13–2.38mm. As for T. montana but elytra less elongate, strial regions lacking distinct vestiture, erect vestiture of pronotum and elytra distinctly plumose, confused and irregular in clumps. Ventrite 5 not impressed in either sex. Aedeagus as in Fig. 200 .

Geographical distribution. México (Chiapas).

Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of wet cloud forest leaf litter at 2050–2200m.

Derivation of specific name. Named from the Latin illuviosa , meaning unwashed, unclean or dirty, in reference to the general appearance of the specimens, which are generally matted with dirt trapped in the dense dorsal vestiture.

Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. jonesi , T. cortesi , T. huitepec , T. weadockae and T. backorum .
