Valid name: Histiotus montanus (Philippi & Landbeck, 1861)
Holotype or syntype: ZMB 502 View Materials , skin and skull (missing); Chile; collected by Segeth.
Comment: Peters (1864) gave no indication of the number of specimens available for his description. In the general catalogue only a single specimen, ZMB 502, was found, annotated in Peters handwriting that it is [an/the] original specimen of the description.
