Valid name: Platyrrhinus helleri ( Peters, 1866)
Syntype: ZMB 3276 View Materials , skin and skull, male; Mexico; collected by Heller, ex NMW.
Comment: Peters examined two specimens, but during this study only one was found in the collections of ZMB (also not in the NMW; see Carter & Dolan 1978: 53). Carter & Dolan (1978: 53) thought the ZMB syntype to be “probably female”, but according to the catalogue entry and label inscription the specimen ZMB 3276 is a male [not identifiable]. Contrary to the description of Carter & Dolan the skull of ZMB 3276 was extracted.
