Valid name: Choeronycteris mexicana Tschudi, 1844 Holotype ( Peters 1868: 366): ZMB 418 View Materials , skin, skull not extracted; Mexico; purchased from Brassert (Bonn), 1831.
Comment: Tschudi described this species from a single specimen found at ZMB with the designation [manuscript name] “ Choeronycteris opercularis from Mejico”. Tschudi did not accept that manuscript name, because it alluded to a character that was caused by faulty preparation.
