Valid name: Platyrrhinus vittatus (Peters, 1859)
Holotype: ZMB 568 View Materials , skin and skull (extracted) in alcohol, male, adult; Puerto Cabello, Carabobo, Venezuela; collected by Appun.
Comment: Carter & Dolan (1978: 52) mentioned ZMB 568 View Materials as holotype or syntype, however, there is no indication in the description that Peters examined more than one specimen. According to the gen-
eral catalogue of the few bats collected by Appun in Puerto Cabello only ZMB 568 is referred to Artibeus vittatus by Peters.
