Syntypes: ZMB 4994 View Materials , skin and skull, male . ZMB 4995 View Materials , skin and skull (damaged), female. Both specimens from New Ireland, Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea; collected by Hüsker.
Comment: A further specimen, BMNH 1914.4 .1.1, is erroneously listed as “ type ”, but Peters (1876: 318) wrote: “Zwei Bälge, ein Männchen und ein Weibchen [two skins, a male and a female], ebenfalls aus Neu- Irland; erlegt von Hrn. Dr. Hüsker. ”
