Syntypes: ZMB 5788 View Materials , ZMB 5788 View Materials a–d, and ZMB 5792 View Materials a–b (seven specimens), bodies in alcohol, skulls extracted . ZMB 5789 View Materials , body in alcohol, skull extracted, pullus . ZMB 5791 View Materials , skull . ZMB 5798 View Materials , ZMB 5808 View Materials , and ZMB 5809 View Materials (three specimens), skins and skulls. Unnumbered skull. All these specimens from “Kuschai” = Ualan [Kosrae] Id., Caroline Ids., Federal States of Micronesia; collected by O. Finsch. ZMB 86715 (= A 4065), skull (missing); “Ponape” = Pohnpei, Federal States of Micronesia; collected by O. Finsch.
Comment: According to K. Helgen (in prep.) the extinct Ponape population may be a different taxon (unnamed subspecies).
