Syntypes: ZMB 2633 View Materials , skin, male, adult; collected by S. Müller , ex RMNH as Pteropus griseus Geoffroy. ZMB 3473, skin and skull, male, adult; collected by von Rosenberg. ZMB 4964 View Materials , skin and skull, male, adult; collected by H.A. Bernstein , 1863. All specimens from “Amboina” = Ambon, Moluccas, Indonesia, ex RMNH (fide Andersen 1912: 318).
Comment: These specimens are also syntypes for Pteropus petersi Matschie 1899 ( 1899: 31) .
