Valid name: Pteropus hypomelanus Temminck, 1853

Holotype (identified by Andersen 1912: 111): ZMB 3945 View Materials , skin and skull (damaged), male, adult; “Pulo Condor” = Poulo Condore [Con Son = Condor Id. of southeastern Vietnam]; collected by R. Germain, ex MNHN.

Comment: Dobson (1878: 55) stated the „type“ to be in MNHN , but Andersen (1912: 111) mentioned for MNHN only paratypes, five mounted specimens and one unmounted skeleton. Rode (1941: 230) listed only two paratypes in the MNHN (46.1868-1100, 46.1868-1101).
