Gallerucida Motschulsky

Diagnosis. Body oblong, stout, convex, fairly broad, 5-12 mm long, glabrous. Antennae vary from filiform to stout and flat, sometimes moderately serrate. Pronotum broader than long, anterior margin bordered, all pronotal angles with seta-bearing pore. Elytra with punctation confused to semiregular double rows. Mesosternum largely covered by anterior edge of metasternum. Posterior tibia with minute apical spine. Claws appendiculate.

Doryida Baly , Doryidomorpha Laboissière , Haemodoryida Chen and Laphris Baly resemble Gallerucida in having the mesosternum covered by the anterior edge of metasternum. However, Doryida , Doryidomorpha and Haemodoryida can easily be differentiated by the absence of metatibial spine, which is present in Gallerucida . Laphris is distinct with the third antennomere about four times longer than the second (second antennomere is not shorter than half of third in Gallerucida ).
