Description. Forewings 2.3 times longer than wide, length in male about 4.7 mm. Colour stramineous; margins of facial carinae in front of eyes orange-red. Forewings white, powdered. Rostrum slightly surpassing post trochanter. Forewings with Sc+R fork well before middle of wing; bases of Cu1 and Ms1 connected by a cross-vein, Ms1 branched just distad of apex of basal median cell; a cross-vein connects the very base of Ms1a with M. Hindwings with tip of R not branched. Male pygofer slightly and roundly produced at the sides. Aedeagus with a terminal hook-like process, curved to the right.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin noun (caverna, -ae = a cave) used in the genitive case.

Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 4.7 mm), EAST MALAYSIA: NORTH BORNEO; labels: 1) N. BOR- NEO: Mt. Kinabalu. 2) Mesilau Cave / 24–26.iii.1964 / 6,175 ft. 3) Royal. Soc. Exped. / coll. S. Kueh / B.M. 1964- 250 ( BMNH) . Paratype. same data as holotype 1 ♂ (fw. 4.8) ( BMNH) .

Distribution. North Borneo.

Diagnosis. Muiralevu cavernae is characterized by the orange-red margins of the facial carinae, and the hooklike terminal process of the male aedeagus.
