Muiralevu parvus Zelazny , sp. nov.

Description. Forewings 2.7 times longer than wide, length in male about 3.0 mm. Colour stramineous; margins of facial carinae faintly orange-brown; fore and middle tibiae with traces of orange. Forewings white, powdered; faint grey marks around M-Ms4 fork and apex of Cu; veins white to stramineous. Rostrum surpassing post trochanter. Forewings with Sc+R fork well before middle of wing; bases of Cu1 and Ms1 connected by a very short cross-vein; Ms1 branched just distad of apex of basal median cell; base of Ms1a angulated and connected to M by a cross-vein. Male pygofer with short and pointed lateral projections. apical portion of aedeagus very short, nearly rectangular in dorsal view.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective ( parvus , -a, -um = small).

Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 3.0 mm), EAST MALAYSIA: NORTH BORNEO; labels: 1) BORNEO (Brit. N.)/ Sandakan Bay ( SW)/ Sapagaya Lumber / Camp 2–20 m, XI-1-'57 2) J.L. Gressitt / Collector 3) Bamboo ( BPBM).

Distribution. North Borneo.

Diagnosis. Muiralevu parvus is very similar to M. silvestris sp. nov., also from Borneo, but is smaller, has white forewings and lacks an apical lobe on the male aedeagus. It also shows similarities to M. philippinensis Zelazny from the Philippines but has a small grey mark on the forewings at the M-Ms4 fork, pointed projections on the male pygofer, and a much shorter apical portion of the male aedeagus.
