Diagnosis. The species of this group can be recognized by the combination of the following characters:

1. Forewings with two (rarely one) row(s) of 3-4 prominent black marks around apical crossveins between Cu and Ms2; the total number of marks is typically 8.

2. Forewings with veins in between these marks usually bright red, reddish or orange; the bright red colour often extends from these veins to the surrounding areas in between the marks.

3. Forewings with Ms1 fork usually close to the apex of the basal median cell.

4. Hindwings without dark marks.

5. Male pygofer often without prominent lateral projections.

Distribution. Species of this group are found in Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi, the Philippines, Indonesia

(Maluku), New Guinea, New Britain, New Ireland, eastern Australia and New Caledonia.
