Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (spinosus, -a, -um = spiny).
Type material. Holotype ♂, PHILIPPINES, Mindanao I., Bukidnon Prov, 1250 m, Mt Katanglad , 26.X.1959, light trap, L. Quate & C. Yoshimoto ( BPBM, # 11,955).
Distribution. Philippines (Mindanao Island) and North Borneo.
