Etymology. As stated by the authors, the species name is a Latin adjective (obtusus, -a, -um = blunt).

Type material. Holotype ♂ (not examined), TAIWAN, Fenchifu , Chiayi Hsien, 16.VI.1987, S.C. Tsaur ( NCHU).

Distribution. Taiwan.

Diagnosis. According to the original description and illustrations Saccharodite obtusa shows some similarities to Sa. lutea Zelazny from the Philippines and Sa. solitaria sp. nov. from New Guinea. It can be distinguished from these by the faint infuscations on the forewings and the pointed processes of the male aedeagus.
